Class- IV Child arbitrarily expelled by a missionary school in Akhnoor, ZEO helpless

Date:

Tawi, May 02:

Amidst the tall claims of the School Department, another incident of high-handedness at a private school came to the fore when the management arbitrarily shunted out a child Nitya Dinesh of class IV from the school. The child has been studying in the school since pre-nursery.

Addressing media in Jammu the President of the Parents Association, Amit Kapoor presented the victim child before the media person with his Transfer Certificate issued by the St. Francis Higher Secondary School in Akhnoor which he alleged; the child's parents had never applied for.

Strongly condemning the incident, Kapoor said that the Principal and management of the School even did not bother the intervention by the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) who visited the St. Francis Higher Secondary School to enquire into the matter.

The ‘father' of the school did not even spare ZEO and allegedly questioned his intervention and misbehaved with him. At the same time, the child and the parents who accompanied ZEO were not allowed inside the school without citing any reason.

Amit Kapoor said that on April 7, the parents deposited all the fees and also bought fourteen books as directed by the school and also took the uniform. After this the child was regularly going to school until the 28th of April the child went to school and was also given homework.

The parents of the child said that when they went to the school to collect the result, they were made to sign on a blank paper. Later, when the child was not allowed to sit in the class, he was called to the school and the ‘Father of the school asked him to take the transfer certificate of his child as he had applied for it' said the parent present before the media. The parents said that they had not applied for it, otherwise, why would they take the transfer certificate when the child has bought books and uniform as well and the child has been studying there from pre-nursery?

Parent Association warned the school management to desist from such arbitrariness and child rights abuses, otherwise, there will be a strong protest against it. He also requested the Deputy Commissioner of Jammu and the Director of School Education to intervene and secure justice for the innocent child who has been under emotional trauma because of his expulsion from the school.

Kapoor said this was the second such case as similar incidents happened at the School where the principal of the school Anupama Sinha gave too hoots to the norms and the sensitivities of children.

He said the parent association will also approach the Chairman JKFFC against the malpractices and highhandedness of such private schools and take stringent action such as commercial shops where the rights of children are abused blatantly.
