SRINAGAR: The father of slain Terrorist Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani is emerging as a leader of the riots in the Valley, overshadowing separatist voices like Syed Ali Shah Geelani and the Mirwaiz. On Friday, Muzaffar Wani led a procession in Pampore as more people turned up to hear him, ignoring a call by the Hurriyat factions to march to Hazratbal in Srinagar.
During a rally in Pampore, Kashmir, father of the terrorist said that he was ready to offer his only daughter to fight against the India. Muzaffar told protesters that his daughter would now fight for their cause. There is an increasing trend in his support in Valley among those protesting against the security forces deployed to keep the situation under control.
Leading a procession, Wani attracted protesters to Khrew who turned up despite the curfew imposed in South Kashmir and a call by Hurriyat leaders to march to Hazratbal, Srinagar, a newspaper reported. Speaking to witnesses, the newspaper added that a “Dargah Chalo” call given by a group of separatist leaders including Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq and Yasin Malik received a poor response from protesters.
Wani arrived at Khrew in an SUV, escorted by the armed militants. One of them even addressed the gathering, and asked people not pelt stones since it would further fuel the unrest, leading to more violence and killings.
