JAMMU: “Flood alert has been sounded in Jammu city and all emergency services have been pressed into service to meet the eventuality of a flood,” a senior officer said.
“Currently , Tawi river in the city was flowing at 13 feet, which is the danger mark, while Chenab river is flowing at 33 feet which is two feet short of the danger mark”, said Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Simrandeep Singh.
The traffic is still on the go on the rivers as no orders to diversion or zero movement have been issued by the District Administration.
Earlier on Saturday, four people including three Vaishno Devi pilgrims were killed and seven received injuries after they were hit by a massive landslide on way to the shrine.The night Yatra was also suspended in view of bad weather in Jammu region.
