Bilateral talks yet unlikely!

Date:

The sermon from Mr. Imran Khan, who is scheduled to be sworn in as Pakistan Prime Minister, for starting the bilateral talks between and Pakistan is least likely to get a positive nod from New Delhi as there is no sign of any change in the ground realities so far the intrusions, ceasefire violation and violence at LoC are concerned? Possibilities seem to be remote because under the new regime there has been no decrease in the level of infiltration of militants. Besides this there has not been any decline in the level of incident of violence and no reduction in the incidents of ceasefire violations. So, Imran Khan's plea for starting bilateral talks may be rejected by India as export of terror from Pak continues.
In fact Pakistan continues to export terror to and to and . And the Wagah route has been marked as the infiltration route and after returning to Pakistan, after survey, these militants smuggle weapons and explosives to those militants operating in Kashmir.
It is good that Indian High Commissioner Ajay Bisaria has called on Pakistan prime minister in waiting and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan and felicitated him on his success in the election. Khan's PTI emerged as the single largest party in the July 25 general election and it nominated him as prime minister.
His discussion on various issues with Khan including the bilateral relationship that followed after presenting him a cricket bat signed by the Indian cricket team may be taken as a good gesture but it all depends on the response of the Pakistan Army who are in real control of the power in Pakistan.
During the discussion, Imran Khan had suggested to Bisaria that bilateral talks between the two countries be started soon. New Delhi has been closely monitoring the situation and the attitude of the Pakistani establishment vis a vis bilateral relation with India and situation on Border and terror fronts. Indian response will emanate only after evaluating the political power the new prime minister will yield in Pakistan and his sincerity.
