The need of the hour is that the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah should not take any step which might lead to confrontation with the central dispensation under the stewardship of PM Narendra Modi because cold relations with centre will impede the requisite functioning of the UT government leading to unnecessary delays in the fulfillment of the promises made by the NC in run up to Assembly elections.
It is always advisable that the state or the UT government should align with the policies, decisions, and initiatives led by the Centre and its leader at the helm of affairs. Working in harmony with the central government’s vision and actions, particularly in the context of development, governance, and national unity is vital for ensuring all round development as otherwise the progress might slow to a point that welfare of people could become near impossible. All said and done, it is imperative for the CM Abdullah not to get carried away after listening to rhetoric of other political parties in J&K and opt for conflicts and confrontations with the Union Government because this will make things difficult. Collaborating with the centre to pace up completion of developmental projects, address regional issues constructively, and prioritize the welfare of the people while maintaining the integrity of the region’s unique identity should be the sole aim of the party in power in J&K. It is for sure that the path of confrontation might be politically tempting but it has the potential to stall progress, delay development, and further complicate an already delicate situation in the region. The welfare of the people must take precedence, and working in consonance with the central government ensures that necessary reforms and resources flow seamlessly to the region. It is commendable that CM Omar Abdullah has praised PM Modi’s initiatives during the inauguration of Z-Morh tunnel because the constructive dialogue adopting a soft approach, without unnecessary opposition, will open doors for deeper cooperation and the realization of a brighter future for the people who have elected him has their beacon of hope. Many observers see the present dispensation in the J&K UT with a balance approach in the best interests of the people of J&K and the government at the centre.
