SRINAGAR: The Ministry of Home Affairs has approved the promotion of Amit Kumar, a 2006 batch IPS officer of the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir cadre (now AGMUT Cadre), to the rank of Inspector General (IG) in the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Currently serving as DIG in the NIA, Kumar’s promotion order, dated January 14, 2025, stipulates that his tenure will be governed by the IPS Tenure Policy. The NIA has been instructed to inform the Ministry of Home Affairs about the date on which Kumar assumes charge as IG.
