2nd COVID vaccination starts in Ladakh

    Leh, Feb 16: The second phase Covid vaccination drive started in Ladakh on Tuesday while SSP Leh Rajiv Pandey took the first jab.

    Officials told that the vaccination of Covid-19 frontline warriors started with inoculation of SSP Leh Sh.Rajiv Pandey at District Police Lines Leh.

    They said that a total of 125 police personnel have been vaccinated today at the District Police Lines Leh.

    They further added that Dy. SP Leh Ashiq Malik was also among the first frontline warriors receiving the vaccine today.

    The vaccination will remain for 10 days at DPL Leh which will cover all the police personnel of District Police Leh, they further added.

    CMO Leh Dr.Motup  Dorjey, District Immunisation Officer Leh Dr. Tashi Namgyal, Dy.CMO Dr.Manzoor , Dy.SP Hq Leh Sh.Ishtyaq A Kacho-JKPS and Police Medical Officer Dr.Tsering Palmo were also present on the occasion, they further added.

    SSP Leh Rajiv Pandey while interacting with the media said that in fact he was to be vaccinated on 24th of this month but to spread the message among all the police personnel and the general public about the safety and efficacy of Covishield vaccine, he volunteered to get himself vaccinated on the first day itself.

    He said that he volunteered himself to wipe out all rumours about vaccine and give message to everyone that it is safe to take this vaccine and only way to beat Covid-19

    He also congratulated the police personnel who got their doses on the first day of the vaccination program. Officials said that similar vaccination program for the police personnel of IR -25th Bn was also started at Heart Foundation Leh from Tuesday.
