Anant Ambani Donates Hair at Tirumala, Reliance Gifts 25 Electric Buses

TIRUPATI, Jun 28: Reliance Industries Executive Director Anant Ambani offered his hair at the Tirumala Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple on Sunday and announced that Reliance Industries will donate 25 electric buses worth around ₹27.5 crore to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).

The company will also bear the salaries and benefits of 50 drivers required to operate the buses and support the development of EV charging infrastructure in Tirumala.

Anant participated in the early morning Suprabhata Seva before offering prayers to Lord Venkateswara. Following the darshan, Vedic scholars blessed him with Veda Ashirvachanam at the Ranganayakula Mandapam, while temple authorities presented him with Srivari Theertha Prasadam and a ceremonial silk shawl.

His decision to undergo the traditional tonsure ceremony attracted attention, as his long hair had become one of his most recognisable personal features in recent years.

The Tirumala temple, one of India’s most revered Hindu shrines, witnesses thousands of devotees offering their hair daily as a symbol of faith, gratitude, and renunciation of ego.

Anant has frequently visited prominent Hindu temples and has spoken publicly about his spiritual beliefs. Ahead of his wedding last year, he undertook a padyatra to the Dwarkadhish Temple in Dwarka. Earlier this month, he visited the Tirumala temple with his father Mukesh Ambani and wife Radhika Merchant to offer prayers.
