New Delhi, Jun 28: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has advised Indian citizens not to undertake the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra without first obtaining all mandatory travel documents required for the pilgrimage, following reports of several pilgrims being stranded in Nepal.
The advisory comes after the Ministry received requests for assistance from Indian pilgrims who travelled through private tour operators but were unable to proceed because they lacked the mandatory Chinese visa and entry permit.
According to the MEA, some pilgrims travelled to Nepal without securing the required documents for entry into China, resulting in delays and hardship during the pilgrimage.
The Ministry urged devotees not to begin the Yatra in anticipation of obtaining permits later, warning that doing so could lead to serious inconvenience and disruptions during the journey.
The MEA also advised pilgrims to ensure that their tour operators are duly registered and authorised before undertaking the pilgrimage. It said the advisory has been issued to facilitate a safe, smooth and hassle-free Kailash Mansarovar Yatra while preventing avoidable difficulties for devotees. (Agencies)
