6 Flights Cancelled at Srinagar Airport Amid Bad Weather, Operational Issues

Srinagar, Dec 31: Flight operations at Srinagar Airport were disrupted on Wednesday with six arrival and departure flights cancelled due to adverse weather conditions and operational issues, airport authorities said.

The cancellations come amid dense fog affecting Jammu and several parts of northern India. According to Srinagar Airport authorities, one IndiGo, three Air India and one Air India Express flight were cancelled owing to weather-related reasons, while a SpiceJet flight was cancelled due to operational issues.

In a post on X, the airport authorities advised passengers to reconfirm their flight status with the concerned airlines before travelling to the airport, adding that further updates would be shared as received. They expressed regret over the inconvenience caused.

In a separate post, the authorities said Air India Express flight IX 1271/1272 operating on the Jammu–Srinagar–Delhi sector, with an estimated arrival time of 1345 hours and departure time of 1420 hours, was also cancelled due to anticipated adverse weather conditions at Jammu.

Meanwhile, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) issued an advisory asking passengers to track flight status and arrive at airports earlier than usual, citing low visibility due to dense fog at several airports across northern India that may result in delays.

Earlier on Tuesday, dense fog disrupted operations at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, leading to the cancellation of around 60 arriving and 58 departing flights, while 16 Delhi-bound flights were diverted to other cities. (Agencies)
