32nd Poonch TT Champ concludes

Poonch, Sept 21: Salil Raina bagged the men's singles title beating Sandeep Luthra a keenly contested final of the 32nd District Open Table tennis
Championship which was organised by District Table Tennis Association at Indoor Hall, Stadium, here. Salil made it a straight close sets 11-09,
12-10, 11-09 win. Earlier, he defeated Gaganpreet Singh 11-9,11-7,9-11,12-10 and Sandeep trounced Pranav 11-07,11-09,09-11,08-11,12-10 in the
semifinals.
The veteran singles title went to Saleem Bandey, who beat Dr Jasbir Singh 11-09, 11-04, 11-09. Semifinals: Saleem Bandey beat Riaz Ahmed 12-
10, 11-07, 11-08; Dr Jasbir Singh beat Jagjit Singh 12-10, 12-10, 11-07. In Junior nder-19 event, Zaffer beat Pranav 11-08,11-08,11-09 while women's
title went to Vanshika, who outplayed Bhoomi 11-08, 11-09,11-08.
In the Hope category, Yuvraj Luthra beat Mohd Mashook 11-09,11-09,11-08. Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Inder Jeet was the chief guest while
Officer 93 Infantry Brigade, Lt. Col Sanjay Yadav and Krishan Lal Sharma (Retd Divisional Sports Officer, Sports Council) were guests of
honour.
The DDC Poonch Inder Jeet, said, “Poonch is hugely blessed with extraordinary talent across various sports disciplines and government is keen to
develop sports infrastructure at the district level. I assure every possible support for table tennis association from the district administration.” Guest of
honour, Lt Col Sanjay Yadav said that Poonch has huge talent in sports and Army also has done a lot to give a proper platform to youth to show their
talent. He also lauded the role of Association in promoting the game.
Earlier, president District Table Tennis Association Poonch, Ajeet Singh Jeet presented a detailed report of the achievements of the Association. Speaking on
the occasion, Saleem Bandey, general secretary said that Poonch Table Tennis Association has been regularly organizing the tournaments for the last 32
years.
