RAMBAN, Feb 24: One more time the police personnel showed their power to the common people and allegedly manhandled an ambulance driver to death near Nashri Tunnel this morning.

According to the reports the ambulance bearing registration no JK19-17232 driver from District Hospital (DH) Ramban identified as Tilak Raj was on the way back after shifted the accident injured persons to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) .

Tilak Raj said that the some police personnel from Gandarbal police station approached me and asked to attach their vehicle (JK16-0870) and take it to some repairing shop as it was not working.

He added that that he refused to do so as he was supposed to do this as it is ambulance and not a crane, after which the police personnel start beating him brutally and critically injured the driver after which he was shifted to District Hospital Ramban for treatment by his colleagues.

After the incident the police personnels was taken into custody at Police Station Chanderkote and police started investigation about the whole matter.

Medical Superintendent (MS) DH Ramban Saif Ud Din Khan said that if the police department will not take any action against the accused police officials the hospital administration will go for strike.

However, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ramban Mushtaq Choudhary said that it is a matter of concern that the police officials did a shameful act and adding during his incident a police officials were also received head injuries.

He further said that the department will look into matter and initiate the inquiry and whosoever found guilty will be suitably punished.
