Ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Jammu & Kashmir’s Poonch, India hits back

Srinagar: Pakistani troops on Wednesday resorted to unprovoked firing on Indian posts along the the Line of Control (LoC) in and 's Poonch area.

Indian security forces retaliated with full vigour to Pakistan's heavy firing.

Reports say that the firing is still on.

Pakistan has stepped up cross-border firing ever since the Indian Army conducted surgical strike on terror launch pads in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) on the intervening night of September 28 and 29.

In a first, carried out surgical strikes on seven terror launch pads across the LoC with the Army inflicting “significant casualties” on terrorists preparing to infiltrate from PoK, days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi warned Uri attack would not go unpunished.

Seven terror launch pads across the LoC were targeted by the Army in a nearly five-hour-long operation during which heliborne and ground forces were deployed.

Responding to unprovoked firing from across the border Minister Manohar Parrikar on Monday said the Indian Army was giving a befitting reply to such ceasefire violations.
