Zewan Attack: 2 Cops died, 12 Injured

    Strongly condemn the cowardly (militant) attack on J&K Police bus in Srinagar: LG Manoj Sinha

    Srinagar, Dec 13: Two cops succumbed to their injuries after militants fired upon a police bus at Zewan area of Central Kashmir Srinagar’s outskirts on Monday evening, leaving 14 personnel injured in the attack.

    As per police, among the total fourteen injured personnel, two cops succumbed to their injuries. The deceased cops include ASI and Selection Grade Constable.

    The attack took place at Zewan in close proximity to the police complex in the area. In the attack, a total of 14 personnel were left injured among whom two have succumbed after being in critical condition. However, among the other 12 injured personnel, one was said to be in a serious condition.

    The police personnel who came under the attack have been identified as ASI Ghulam Hassan NO. 861250, CT Sajad Ahamd NO. 641AP 9TH, CT Rameez Ahmad NO. 734 AP 9TH, CT Bishmber Dass NO. 129 AP 9TH, SGCT Sanjay Kumar NO. 458 AP 9TH, SGCT Vikas Sharma NO. 557 AP 9TH, CT Abdul Majeed NO. 399 AP 9TH, CT Mudasir Ahamd NO. 301 AP 9TH, CT Ravi Kanth NO. 719 AP 9TH, CT Showkat Ali NO. 434 AP 9TH, CT Arshid Mohammad NO. 518 AP 9TH, SGCT Safique Ali NO. 782 AP 9TH, CT Satveer Sharma NO. 657 AP 9TH and CT Aadil Ali NO. 432 AP 9TH.

    To condemn the attack, LG Manoj Sinha tweeted that “Strongly condemn the cowardly (militant) attack on J&K Police bus in Srinagar. My homage to our brave martyred police personnel. We are committed to ensure that perpetrators are punished. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.”

    ‘Directed the concerned authorities to provide best possible treatment to the injured. I pray for their speedy recovery. Our police and security forces are determined to neutralize the evil forces of terrorism,” added LG in his tweet.
