Two LeT militants killed in encounter

    Date:

Srinagar, February 05: Two militants of the LeT (TRF) outfit were killed by Srinagar Police in an encounter in Srinagar's Zakura area on Saturday.

As per police, the encounter started in the wee hours of the morning in the Zakura area of Srinagar outskirts. In the gunfight, police said that two militants of LeT (TRF) were killed.

Police said that the slain militants have been identified as Ikhlaq Ahmad Hajam, a resident of Kujer Frisal Kulgam and Adil Nisar Dar, a resident of Malangpora Pulwama, both linked with LeT (TRF) militant outfit.

It was said Ikhlaq Ahmad was active from June-2021 and Adil Nisar was active from August-2021. “Both the slain were categorized militants and part of groups involved in an attack on Police/SF. Besides, they were also instrumental in motivating the gullible youth to join militant folds and reviving the OGW network,” said police.

However, Ikhlaq was the mastermind behind the recent killing of HC Ali Mohammad at Hasanpora Anantnag on 29/1/22. He was also involved in an IED blast on Qaimoh-Yaripora road on 18/01/2022, police said.

“Incriminating materials, arms & ammunition including 02 pistols and 05 hand grenades were recovered from the site of the encounter,” added police.

However, IGP Vijay Kumar has congratulated Srinagar Police for carrying out the anti-militant operation in a professional manner without any collateral damage.
