Troops on high alert on border to check ingress

Date:

Tawi, August 6 (KIP): A fresh high alert has been sounded with
instructions to the troops, guarding the LOC, and to the BSF, deployed
on the IB, in Jammu and to intensify their patrolling following
reports that groups of militants had been brought across the launch
pads across the border.

Reports said that inputs from intelligence agencies reveal that
the Pakistani troops planned to push groups of militants from across
Kupwara sector where it has succeeded in managing to help small groups
of militants, twos and threes, in crossing into Kashmir.

According to these reports after the killing of Burhan Wani
Commander of Hizbul Mujahideen, there is no effective leader in the
outfit who could emulate Wani by enrolling groups of local youth in
the outfit. These reports said that those who had been enrolled in
Hizbul Mujahideen outfit by him have been instigating people to
violence in order to mourn the loss of their leader.

These reports said that some gun totting youth had sneaked into the ranks of protesters, protesting against the killing and use of pellet guns, and these very militants were triggering trouble in the valley. In various cases these militants were trying to open fire either on the
protesters or on the security forces in order to defame the security personnel.

Reports said that after the killing of Burhan Wani agencies
across the border were orphaned because of lack of support for their
nefarious activities within the valley. In order to compensate this
loss groups of militants, equipped with sophisticated weapons and
explosives, were being pushed into the valley to make up for the loss
of man power among the militants and for the loss of weapons and
ammunition. It is in this context that troops and the BSF have been
put on the high alert.

In addition to this security forces operating within the
valley to curb unrest have been told to use minimum force and simply
adopt new ways for tackling protestors after the separatists have extended
their calls for shutdown which was to be over by today.(KIP)
