Amar Kaushik, the director of the box office smash hit Stree 2, credits the widespread audience affection for the franchise for its record-breaking box office collections. In just five days since its release, Stree 2 has amassed over Rs. 300 crore globally, becoming the highest grossing Hindi film of 2024.
In a recent interview, Kaushik spoke about prioritizing storytelling over star power. He explained that instead of building the narrative around a major star, his focus is on crafting compelling stories and finding the ideal cast. Kaushik wants audiences to feel entertained rather than sold to.
The filmmaker also opened up about Akshay Kumar's memorable cameo in Stree 2. Kumar eagerly agreed to do the special appearance after hearing about his role and lines from Kaushik during their work on another upcoming film. On set, Kumar fully immersed himself in the scene and did multiple retakes, much to the enjoyment of the team. His chemistry with co-star Abhishek Banerjee brought the house down.
Kaushik expressed surprise at the blockbuster reception to Stree 2. Featuring a talented ensemble cast led by Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, the film has struck a deep chord with movie lovers. Kaushik is grateful for the immense love showered on the franchise by audiences.
