‘Separatists are responsible for subdued celebration of Eid’

Date:

, June 27 (KIP):- If majority of people in the Muslim dominated
valley celebrated Eid in a subdued manner only the separatists
have been responsible for it. These separatists, toeing the
pro-Pakistan line, have been trying to incite people to take to
streets and clash with the security forces.

This is what happened on Monday after the Eid prayers. Those
who had offered Eid prayers later took to the streets and clashed with
the security forces. And in the process scores of protesters were
injured.

What is amazing is the way Syed Salahuddin, who heads the
Muzaffarabad based United Jehad Council, appealed to people to
observer shutdown from July 8 to July 13 as Burhan Wani Hizb commander
had been killed on July 8.This means that for six days normal life
will be paralyzed in the valley and still the separatists blamed the
st ate and the central Governments for forcing people to  celebrate
Eid in a subdued manner.

Syed Ali Geelani  has said the Muslim community in
celebrated Eid in a gloomy atmosphere. Terming arbitrary arrests and
curbs placed on the unified Hurriyat leadership and activists as
unjustified and “state-sponsored terrorism”, Geelani, in a statement
issued , said Muslim community in State was celebrating Eid in a
gloomy atmosphere.

The octogenarian leader denounced the State administration for placing
Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Jammu Kashmir
Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik and senior
Hurriyat leader Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Ayaz Akbar and scores of other
Hurriyat leaders and activists under house arrest.

Geelani called restrictions and barring leadership from offering
religious obligations on the auspicious eve of Eid as blatant
interference in religious matters.
Geelani, who is under house arrest since past seven years, said on
this day Muslim Ummah from all over the was celebrating
Eid-ul-Fitr with religious fervor but people in Kashmir were reeling
under continuous life threats and subjected to extreme “brutalities”.

Lashing at the administration, he said almost entire leadership has
been put under house arrest and often bared from offering Friday
prayers.

Lamenting at authorities, Geelani said unjustifiable restrictions in
the holy month of Ramadan speaks volumes about how callous and
heartless the State rulers are.
Referring to Tehreek-e-Hurriyat cadre, he said they were subjected to
vengeance and not allowed to offer even Friday prayers in the holy
month. “This is sheer frustration of authorities,” Geelani said adding
this illustrates their “sick-mindedness” and “madness”.

He said all these restrictions and haughty approach of administration
is giving rise to uncertainty and turning the situation from bad to
worse.
Justifying the people's resentment, Geelani said uncalled
restrictions, repressive and suppressive approach of authorities was
the basic reason for appalling situations in State.
Does Mr Geelani expect to sit silent over the way separatists
incite people to throw stones on security forces and clash with them ?
Certainly the Government will share the blame if the law and order
goes out of hand.(KIP)
