Rs 2.65 lakh scholarships granted for wards of deceased cops

SRINAGAR: Continuing its endeavour to provide financial assistance to the school going wards of deceased Police personnel, the Director General of Police, Dilbag Singh has sanctioned scholarships of Rs. 2.65 lakh.

The scholarships have been granted for the academic session 2018-19 & 2019-20.

A handout stated that Rs. 5000 each has been granted as scholarship to 53 school going wards of those deceased Police personnel who died while in service due to natural or accident deaths.

The scholarships have been granted out of Central Police Welfare Fund.

The recipients of scholarships included eight students of nursery and primary classes, 41 students of middle and higher secondary classes and four students pursuing graduation.

To boost the morale and support the aspiring wards of deceased cops financially, Police Headquarters has sanctioned over Rs 7 lakh as scholarship in favour of one 149 wards of deceased cops this year so far as welfare measure.
