SRINAGAR, Nov 30: Srinagar Police on Saturday carried out searches in the Batamaloo and HMT areas as part of an ongoing investigation into a case filed under FIR No. 65/2024, relating to violations of Section 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
According to a statement issued by the police to news agency, the investigation focuses on individuals allegedly working under the direction of adversaries to create false narratives with the intent of inciting unlawful and violent activities.
Search warrants issued by the NIA Court enabled police to raid the homes of two suspects: Obais Riyaz Dar, a resident of Bonpora Batamaloo, and Sahil Ahmad Bhat, a resident of HMT Zainakot. During the operation, police seized incriminating materials and electronic devices.
Authorities have warned that additional searches will be conducted in the homes of other identified suspects linked to the spreading of seditious propaganda. Police also urged citizens to exercise caution and responsibility on social media, avoiding the sharing or uploading of content that may fuel false narratives or incite violence, especially among the youth.
