Revising the policy for admission of Covid patients to Covid facilities will be yet another measure to ease the chaotic condition prevalent in most of the Hospitals in many states facing a huge spike in Covid cases.

Revisiting the alarming situation of COVID-19 in India, the Union Health Ministry today announced that henceforth requirement of a positive test for Covid-19 virus is not mandatory for admission to a Covid health facility.

It further said that that a suspect case of Covid infection shall also be admitted to the suspect ward of CCC, DCHC or DHC as the case may be. “No patient will be refused services on any count. This includes medications such as oxygen or essential drugs even if the patient belongs to a different city.

The advisory that also be applicable to Union Territory of and will further improve the confusion and chaos at the Hospital Admission counters will eliminate the scope of multiple instructions at local level by various layers of medical and administrative hierarchy.

With Oxygen plants at various locations likely to be functional within a day or so, the position of availability of beds with integrated Oxygen facility may soon ease the pressure due to the acute shortage of Oxygen beds in the hospitals.

With more accommodations both temporary and for longer use are being constructed at war footing, it is hoped that hardship may get milder in the coming days. Meanwhile, it is pertinent for the people to avoid unnecessary movement of any kind while observing strictly the SoPs in and spirit during the relaxation period as this is the only prevention to save lives.

Amid the ongoing crisis in various where the patients are turned back from hospitals, the Centre now has assured that no patient shall be refused admission on the ground that he/she is not able to produce a valid identity card that does not belong to the city where the hospital is located. “Admissions to hospitals must be based on need”, added the Centre. It said that the discharge should be strictly in accordance with its revised discharge policy.

The Union Health Ministry has advised the Chief Secretaries of States/Union territories to issue necessary orders and circulars, incorporating the above directions within three days, which shall be enforced till replaced by an appropriate uniform policy.

Further, without fear but observing all precautions, each one of us must go for the vaccination against Covid by registering through proper channel and at the allotted centre only.

Further, the medical experts also advised not to venture into self-medication and try anything free-flowing on social media from unauthentic sources.
