NIT Srinagar organises Cross Country Run | Director, Registrar and DSW felicitates winners

Srinagar, May 27: The Department of Physical Education, Institute of (NIT) Srinagar on Saturday organized a Cross Country Run in which around 220 runners from three categories participated in the event.
The cross-country run was flagged off by Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. (Dr.) Sudhakar Yedla at 6.30 am from Nishat Garden to NIT Srinagar for boys and similarly from Duck Park Nishat for girls, teaching and non-teaching staff to NIT Srinagar campus.
The first three position holders from all the 3 categories were awarded the trophies and appreciation certificates. From the girls section, 1st position was bagged by Ruqiya Bano (Chemical Engg.Deptt), 2nd position by Dharshana Dayare (ECE Deptt) and 3rd position by Iram Ayoub (Chemical Engg. Deptt).
Similarly, from the boy's category, 1st position was secured by Harsh (Mechanical Engg Deptt), 2nd position by Sachin (ECE) and 3rd by Mohammad Hasnain (Chemical Engg Deptt.)

The winners were felicitated by Director NIT Srinagar Prof. (Dr.) Sudhakar Yedla, Registrar Prof. Syed Kaiser Bukhari and Dean Students Welfare, Prof. Abdul Liman with winner trophies and certificates.
On the occasion, Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. Yedla congratulated the winners and stated that such events are important to develop a vibrant academic system on the campus.
“By participating in sports activities develops valuable skills among individuals that extend beyond the playing field. The ability to plan ahead, understand consequences, make informed decisions, and learn from mistakes can be applied to various aspects of life,” he said.
Prof. Yedla said through wins and losses, students learn to handle success and failure gracefully, develop a competitive spirit, and understand the importance of integrity and ethical behaviour.
Institute's Registrar, Prof. Syed Kaiser Bukhari said participation in sports activities promotes and wellbeing, builds confidence, and can help in maintaining mental health issues.
“Sports often involve strategic thinking, where participants need to analyze the game situation, anticipate opponents' moves, and make quick decisions. This ability to think strategically helps us plan ahead, assess various options, and choose the most effective course of action,” Prof. Bukhari said.
He said in future also NIT Srinagar will be organising such activities on the campus.
Dean Students Welfare, Prof. Abdul Liman congratulated all candidates for participating in the event. Sports events play a crucial role in academic campuses like NIT Srinagar and offer numerous benefits to students, faculty, and the overall educational , he said.
On the occasion, Dr. Srinibash Mishra, SAS Coordinator expressed his gratitude to NIT Srinagar administration for supporting such initiatives on the campus.
Dr. Mishra thanked all the duty officials, local police, and the security personnel of NIT Srinagar who performed their duties efficiently, and dedicatedly in making this cross-country event successful.
Meanwhile, the event was organized by Dr. Srinibash Mishra (SAS Coordinator), Sohail Ahmad Baba (SAS Assistant), Abdul Gani Lone (Sr.Technician), Abdul Hamid Dar (Sr. Technician), Ghulam Ahmad Dar (Sr. Technician), Ghulam Hassan Shaksaaz (Orderly), Mushtaq Ahmad (Office Assistant), Mohmmad Akbar Dar, Habib Ullah Akhoon, Minhaj ul Hamid, Mohammad Subhan, Kaiser Ahmad and Ghulam Rasool.
