Jammu, Oct 19: Jammu Police have successfully cracked two major drug networks, arresting eight accused—including women peddlers—and recovering heroin worth crores, a police spokesperson said on Sunday.
The operations were carried out in Rajeev Nagar (Bahu Fort) and RS Pura areas, resulting in the seizure of substantial narcotics and the arrest of five drug peddlers, including hardcore and chronic offenders.
In one operation, Vishal Kumar of Rajeev Nagar, Narwal, was arrested near Wave Mall with 275 grams of heroin and an electronic weighing machine. During interrogation, he disclosed that he procured the contraband from Reena of Rajeev Nagar, Narwal. Acting promptly, a police team accompanied by the Naib Tehsildar Bahu Fort conducted a search at her residence, recovering 55 grams of heroin, another weighing machine, and Rs 33,490 cash. Reena was arrested in connection with the recovery.
Three more individuals were also arrested in a related case, with police seizing 13 grams of heroin, two weighing machines, and Rs 3,050 in cash.
In a separate breakthrough at Chak Talab, RS Pura, three drug peddlers—Inderjeet of Gandhi Camp, Tehsil Batala, Punjab; Vishal Kumar of Sagarpur, Tehsil Batala, Punjab; and Jagdish Raj of Chak Talab, RS Pura—were apprehended. Police recovered approximately 186 grams of heroin from their possession.
A senior police officer said these achievements reflect the Jammu Police’s relentless efforts, professionalism, and teamwork in curbing drug networks. He urged the public to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling or suspicious activities in their areas and cooperate to build a drug-free society. (Agencies)
