The Centre has advised states and Union Territories (UTs) to enforce containment measures in Covid-19 affected districts with more than 10 per cent positivity rate or 60 per cent bed occupancy. Local containment may be undertaken for a period of 14 days for breaking the chain of transmission.
The coronavirus situation in India remains grim as the country continues to witness a deadly surge in its Covid-19 cases. India registered 3,49,691 new cases in the last 24 hours. Top five states which have registered maximum cases are Maharashtra with 67,160 cases, followed by Uttar Pradesh with 37,944 cases, Karnataka with 29,438 cases, Kerala with 26,685 cases and Delhi with 24,103 cases. 53.0% of the new cases are reported from these five states, with Maharashtra alone responsible for 19.21% of the new cases.
