LG Sinha Assures Justice and Livelihood Support to Terror Victims in Kupwara

Kupwara, Oct 15: Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, visited Dardpora in Kupwara district on Wednesday to meet families affected by terrorism and review their rehabilitation under the special welfare drive.

During the visit, Sinha directed the Deputy Commissioner and SSP of Kupwara to expedite pending cases related to terror victim families. Reaffirming the government’s commitment to justice, rehabilitation, and livelihood support, he said, “It is our duty to stand with the families who have suffered due to terrorism and ensure they are not left behind in our journey of peace and progress.”

Recalling his earlier interactions in 2024, the LG noted that many families lost breadwinners to terrorism and continue to face hardships. While some received government jobs, many remain in distress. “After reviewing their situation with officials, we decided that every district must take responsibility for rehabilitating such families,” he added.

Sinha informed that 247 individuals have already been provided government jobs under the special rehabilitation drive, with more applications being processed online. “Those who genuinely suffered due to terrorism will be supported; those with terror links will not be entertained,” he clarified.

He also highlighted efforts to rebuild homes destroyed in cross-border shelling, noting that a Kerala-based organization has stepped forward to reconstruct damaged houses in Kupwara.

Concluding his address, the Lieutenant Governor reaffirmed, “The government stands firmly with every innocent victim of terrorism. Together, we will build a peaceful, prosperous, and self-reliant Jammu and Kashmir.” (KINS)
