    Anti-Terror Raids Conducted in Srinagar Under UAPA

    Srinagar, Oct 15: In a coordinated operation to curb terrorism and unlawful activities, Srinagar Police conducted extensive raids at multiple locations across the city targeting suspected terrorist associates and overground workers (OGWs) affiliated with proscribed organizations.

    The raids were carried out under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) as part of ongoing investigations. Authorities focused on individuals facilitating, aiding, or abetting terror-related activities, searching their residences for incriminating material, digital devices, and documents.

    Searches were conducted at residences of several individuals, including Asrar Ahmad Bala (Omer Colony Lal Bazar), Shahbaz Ahmad Bhat (Palpora Noorbagh), Fayaz Ahmad Ganie (Suthsu Kalan), Burhan Nazir (Beeroni Kathidarwaza), Sajid Majeed Shah (Nowpora Sekidafar), Ashiq Bashir Najar (Soiteng), among others.

    Operations were conducted in accordance with legal procedures, in the presence of Executive Magistrates, independent witnesses, and under the supervision of senior J&K Police officials. These actions also form part of intelligence-gathering efforts to pre-empt and disrupt potential conspiratorial or terrorist activities threatening public peace and national security.

    The raids highlight Srinagar Police’s commitment to taking firm legal action against all individuals involved in terror-related or anti-national activities. (Agencies)
