Kissan mela held at Kulgam

Kulgam, March 13

District Development Commissioner Dr Shamim Ahmad Wani today inaugurated a mega Kissan Mela here at mini-Stadium witnessing participation of a large number of farmers.
The day long Kisan mela was organized by the department Kulgam under centrally sponsored scheme, Submission On Agriculture Extension,(SMAE).
Chief Agriculture Officer Mohammed Iqbal, Sub Divisional Agriculture officer Dawood Ahmad and other senior officers and officials of the Agriculture Department were also present .
At the Mela, Agriculture, Horticulture, Fisheries, Floriculture, KVK, Apiculture and Animal Husbandry Departments besides some progressive businessman setup their stalls to display their products.
The DDC appealed people to adopt latest techniques and innovations to boost the agriculture sector and increase productivity. He also urged them to come forward and avail benefits of various farmer related welfare schemes of the Government.
The participating farmers evinced much enthusiasm and visited stalls to know about the government schemes for agriculture and allied sectors.
Farm machinery, High quality hybrid seeds, improved varieties of fruits and vegetables were main attraction for the participating farmers.
