Katra (Reasi), Sept 30: Holy town of Katra is all set to host the 17th Mission- Dosti International Indian Style Maha Dangal (Kushti) on
October two at SMVDSB Sports Stadium, here on October two.
“The event is part of ongoing Navratra Festival being organised by Navratra Festival Committee in collaboration with SMVDSB, J&K
Tourism Department, J&K Police, NHPC, J&K Bank, Shiv Khori Shrine Board Ransoo (Pouni), CRPF, LIC, Divisional Administration Jammu
and locals of Katra,” informed chairman of the Katra Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma.
He disclosed that the participants in the prestigious event included Arjun Awardees, International Bharat Kesari and Hind Kesari male
and female wrestlers in addition to those prominent wrestlers from Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Indian Railway, Chandigarh,
J&K Police and host UT of J&K.
The competition shall be organized following the norms of Indian Style Wrestling Association of India under the overall supervision of
Shiv Kumar Sharma and the team comprising of Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri), Sohan Singh Thakur (Sonu) and Ram Paul Sharma.
“The inaugural function shall take place at 1 pm at the given venue and shall conclude at 6 pm. Elaborate arrangements have been made
for the smooth conduct of the major event. Different committees have been formed involving 50 members of the Association, including 20
technical officials,” informed Shiv Kumar Sharma.
The prize tag for the main bout (Ist malli) is Rs 2,50,000 lakh along with the mementos while the prize money for women's main bout is
Rs 70,000 in this Rs 15 lakh event.
The men's top bout shall take place between World Military Games medealist Hadi of Iran and Arjun Awardee Satyawart Kadian of
Rohtak in Haryana. Similarly, in women's main bout, Commonwealth Bronze medal winner, Divya Kakran of UP shall meet Asian
Championship Bronze winner, Bhateri.
