Srinagar, June 27: The Jammu and Kashmir Police has inducted ‘Black Panther’ Command Control Vehicle in north Kashmir to boost its operational capabilities.
DIG North Kashmir Range Sujit Kumar (IPS) told Rising Kashmir the vehicle, equipped with latest technology, would act as a command centre for operational, rescue duties and during law and order situations for police.
“The advanced bullet proof, all weather, all terrain vehicle is a mobile operational hub. It is a big boost to the operational capabilities of police,” he said.
A senior police official said earlier during the live encounters and anti militancy operations, their vehicles would remain away from the encounter sites and drone cameras were used.
“But most of the time the drones were hit by the enemies. This vehicle has a pneumatic mast which can go up to 35-40 metres with a 360-degree rotating camera equipped with 42x zoom along with an interactive screen with access to the internet making it connected to Headquarters of Jammu and Kashmir Police for real-time monitoring,” he said.
The police official said during operations even a quadcopter can also be added to this vehicle giving it a three-way approach for the operation making it clear like a mirror.
The vehicle can be easily accessed from a mobile phone, he said.
Police said that the vehicles are connected with a police control room and can remotely monitor the live encounter or when an operation is launched.
Also the security of this vehicle is manned by individual servers and only they have access to this server making it secure.
“We will introduce these vehicles in south Kashmir areas as well,” he said.
The official said the vehicle can also be used for disasters and can act as a saviour to save people during such situations.
