Jammu, Feb 14: After men's Gold, Jammu and Kashmir women team bagged Silver medal in team event of Handball in the 5th National Masters Games held under the banner of Masters Games Federation of India (MGFI) at Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.
In the final, J&K women lost to Kerela in a closely contested game 11-09. The J&K team was led by senior player, Sonia Jain as captain and included international players, Mamta Bajaj and Renu Rattan.
Important to mention here that in this multi event Masters Games, J&K won three medals, including one in individual event of Powerlifting. Neete Kour bagged gold in Powerlifting lifting 200 kg weight in 71 kg category of Plus 45 age group.
“It was our maiden participation in the Masters Games, so focused mainly on the team event of Handball fielding teams both in men and women sections.
However, one of our female Handball player contested in individual event and won Gold,” informed Ashutosh Sharma.
