    J&K: Arms & ammunition recovered in Baramulla forest

    Baramulla: Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir‘s Baramulla district successfully recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition during a cordon and search operation (CASO) in the Namblan forest area on Friday, police officials said.

    The operation, launched by Baramulla Police in coordination with the Army’s 46 Rashtriya Rifles and the 53 battalion of CRPF, resulted in the seizure of two Chinese hand grenades, 104 AK-47 rounds, two AK-47 magazines (one damaged), six pieces of RDX, a detonator set with wire, a pouch, two pithoo bags, and a pressure IED.

    Authorities stated that the timely operation prevented the possible misuse of the recovered weapons and explosives for unlawful activities in the region.

    A case has been registered under Sections 7/25 of the Indian Arms Act and Section 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) at Police Station Sheeri, with further investigation currently underway.

    In a statement, the police reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace and security in Baramulla, emphasizing their proactive efforts to combat any potential threats to the district’s stability.
