Jammu Tawi, June 14: Jammu University shook the examinees cold when the Jammu University Authorities rolled out an Answer key on June 13, 2016 for the Jammu University Entrance Test 2016 (JUET-2016) conducted on June 12, 2016 on their website www.juet.in.
The entrance test taken by more than 11000 candidates, garbed attention with a sloppy answer key with many anomalies.
Approximately 4,400 UG and PG applications were filed for the entrance test.
At first the students were disappointed with the question paper setup. And right about when this was to settle down there came the answer key troll.
It is rather strange how the highest institution for education in Jammu has set up a question paper which would put many to shame, and then present an answer key with discrepancies which show shear negligence and laziness.
On the one hand, almost every talk by every single eminent professor at any forum would highlight the need for improvement in the education system of our country and on the other, the highest institution in Jammu has made no effort to even check the kind of exam it set for aspirants who prepare for months to get an entry in the course of their choice.
One glance at the question paper and the answer key and the SLOPPINESS emerges effortlessly.
One of the answers mentioned to a question and we quote:
“The Answer Key says Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma is a Sitar Player.”
Santoor-Vaadak Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma who belongs to Jammu is a renowned artist worldwide.
In a question of Spot the error – “Brother-in-laws” is mentioned as “correct answer” meaning no error while Brothers-in-law is the correct usage.
In another Question of standard preposition use with look can be at, into, upto, etc.. the answer has been wrongly marked on the answer sheet.
Question 89 and Question 93 of Set C have also wrongly been marked.
Find the odd ones out with options of Teeth, Nose, Skin, Eyes has also been mistakenly mentioned in the answer key.
Additionally the question paper contained more than one right answers to a question and then marked otherwise as the wrong ‘right answer' in the answer key.
And these are just the ones out of a small sample space.
The Jammu University Authorities should introspect the lackadaisical approach towards the JUET test paper and cut students some slack who were sold the ‘prestigious' Jammu University's Entrance Test for a lemon.
