Shah Rukh Khan helped Divya Dutta connect with Mani Ratnam for Dil Se role
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is renowned for his gracious and charming personality. In a recent interview, acclaimed actress Divya Dutta reminisced about an incident from the past where Shah Rukh went out of his way to help her.
In the late 1990s, Divya was eager to be part of Mani Ratnam's ambitious project ‘Dil Se' which starred Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role. She showed up on the film's shooting location one day to somehow get a meeting with Ratnam. The sets were overwhelmed with excited fans who had gathered in huge numbers to catch a glimpse of their favorite star Shah Rukh Khan.
Amidst the enormous crowds, Divya didn't think she would get the chance to interact with anyone. However, to her surprise, someone escorted her through the swarm of people towards Shah Rukh's vanity van. The superstar warmly welcomed her in and patiently heard her request to work in ‘Dil Se'. Divya expressed how keen she was to be part of the project.
Shah Rukh, ever the gentleman, assured Divya that he would convey her message to Mani Ratnam. Despite the hustle-bustle outside with fans screaming his name, he made sure to make her feel comfortable. As promised, Divya got an opportunity to meet Ratnam, though she wasn't cast in the film.
Years later, when the two worked together in Yash Chopra's ‘Veer-Zaara', Shah Rukh continued to guide and support Divya by helping her understand nuances of acting in front of the camera. His supportive nature is what sets him apart from others in the industry. This anecdote is a true reflection of Shah Rukh Khan's gracious and warm persona that has endeared him to both colleagues and audiences over decades.
