NEW DELHI, Mar 18: The government on Wednesday instructed airlines not to charge extra for 60 per cent of seats on domestic flights and to ensure passengers on the same PNR are seated together, as part of measures to strengthen passenger facilitation.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has mandated that at least 60 per cent of seats on any flight be allocated free of charge, up from the current 20 per cent, and that passengers travelling together, especially families, be seated preferably in adjacent seats.
Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu said these measures also include clear rules for carrying sports equipment, musical instruments, and pets, along with stronger enforcement of passenger rights during delays and cancellations. The directions apply to all domestic flights. (Agencies)
