The recent cyber attacks on Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), All Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Safdarjung Hospital highlighted a concerning gap in the country's cyber security edifice.

As India sans a robust mechanism against hackers as was seen in the recent cases of hacking of the records of prestigious institutions, the dearth of adequate cyber security is posing a significant threat to critical institutions and sensitive data.

The breach at ICMR and AIIMS underscores the need for a proactive approach, leveraging advanced cyber-security measures and artificial intelligence to detect and thwart potential threats. Strengthening collaboration between government agencies, private sectors, and cyber-security experts is pivotal in developing a resilient defense against evolving cyber threats.

As technology advances, investing in state-of-the- cyber-security modules becomes imperative to safeguard vital institutions and maintain the integrity of sensitive information in the digital age. As the country lately has been boasting of transformation from manual era to the digital one, there comes a responsibility for the helmsmen to provide appropriate edifice to the citizens to protect their data, records and other personal information lying online, relieving them from any kind of fear and apprehensions over losing the same.

The Government of India must prioritize the development of a comprehensive and robust cyber-security mechanism to prevent future cyber attacks, similar to the recent incident at AIIMS and ICMR. This involves investing in cutting-edge technologies, regular security audits, and fostering collaboration between cyber security experts and relevant agencies. Enhancing public awareness about online safety and promoting cyber hygiene practices are equally crucial components.

A proactive and multifaceted strategy is essential to thwart emerging cyber threats, safeguard critical infrastructure, and protect sensitive data from potential breaches in the digital landscape. As the entire is facing this threat with different potential levels, it becomes imperative that the governments across the world tie-up to work in tandem to thwart such devastating cyber threats and create a safe free from hackers jurisdictions so that transformation to the digital age becomes more convenient and damage free.
