Jammu, July 17 (KIP):- Senior Congress leaders, including former
finance Minister, P. Chidambaram do not know that what suits Pakistan
and separatists does not suit India and as such the question of
reopening of channels of dialogue with either Pakistan or the
separatists does not arise. Pakistan, during proposed talks will rake
up the issue of Kashmir being its life-line, and the separatists may
tell India that Pakistan too should be involved in talks. Both the
sides may bark on right of self-determination for the people of
Kashmir which is not acceptable to India.
However, Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram has alleged that the
Centre has taken a “maximalist” position on Kashmir and “aggravated”
the problem in the Valley. His remarks came two days after the Centre
briefed opposition parties on the stand-off with China and the
situation in Jammu and Kashmir in the aftermath of an attack on
Amarnath pilgrims.
The former Union home minister said the Kashmir issue is “a festering
wound” and the people of the Valley are caught between “two maximalist
positions” taken by the central government and militants.
One should appreciate Chidambaram for blaming militants too for
taking extreme position which has endangered lives of people of
Kashmir.
Chidambaram is oblivious of the fact that militants, who operate
in the valley, are from across the border and they have received aid
and assistance from the Pakistan Army for crossing into Jammu and
Kashmir. It is in this connection that Chief Minister, Mehbooba
Mufti has said that whatever trouble is created in Kashmir is the
handiwork of people from across the border.
It is equally wrong to blame the state Government for the
escalation of violence since the death of Burhan Wani on July
8,2016.The situation has taken a dramatic shape and large number of
people, despite restrictions, attend the burial ceremony of militants,
even those unknown.
That is what the security forces have been given a free hand to end
militants an d given a free hand to the Army to foil ingress
