Jammu, Jan 07: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness largely dry and stable weather conditions till January 22, with cold nights and persistent fog expected over the Jammu plains, the Meteorological Centre Srinagar said on Wednesday.
The MeT Centre warned that moderate fog will prevail across the plains of Jammu division, with dense fog at isolated places over the next five days, posing visibility concerns for commuters and travellers, particularly during early morning and late evening hours.
According to the forecast, the weather across the Union Territory will remain partly cloudy from January 7 to 15. January 16 and 17 may see generally cloudy conditions, with the possibility of light rain or snowfall at isolated places in the Kashmir division.
The weather is expected to turn partly to generally cloudy on January 18 and 19, while January 20 may witness generally cloudy skies with light snowfall at isolated higher reaches of the Kashmir region. January 21 and 22 are likely to remain partly cloudy.
The MeT Centre clarified that no significant weather disturbance is anticipated till January 22. However, it issued an advisory of a sharp dip in minimum temperatures till January 10, after which temperatures are expected to rise by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius.
Residents, especially those travelling through fog-prone areas of the Jammu plains, have been advised to exercise caution due to reduced visibility. (Agencies)
