BSF foils infiltration bid
Jammu Tawi, Oct 20: BSF troops foiled a major infiltration bid by a group of six militants after a heavy fire-fight using rocket propelled grenades along the International Border in Kathua district, a senior officer said on Thursday.
A group of four-six militants made an infiltration bid into this side along the IB and attacked a vehicle carrying troops on patrolling with RPGs followed by heavy and indiscriminate firing at forward area Bobiya in Kathua around 2345 hours, the officer said.
The vehicle was patrolling the borderline at the time of the infiltration bid, he said.
BSF troops guarding the borderline retaliated resulting in exchanges for over 20 minutes, he said adding perhaps there was support fire from the Border Out Posts (BoPs) of Pakistan
“As BoPs is close by there is tactic support of rangers as well”, he said.
When the BSF fired para bombs for illumination of the area, the militants escaped and were seen carrying an injured, the officer said
“Everything is fine on our side”, he said.
Meanwhile Jammu Inspector General (IG) Border Security Force (BSF) D.K. Upadhyay on Thursday said they are fully prepared to give a befitting reply to the militants in the language they understand.
“Last night at around 11:45 hours heavily armed militants, five to six militants they made an attempt to forced infiltrate and tried to infiltrate through the IB but that was timely detected and retaliated in a very befitting manner by the alert and vigilant soldiers,” BSF IG Upadhyay said.
“It is obviously very difficult to stop forced infiltration until and unless you are alert. This is not only foiled but one of them has also been injured,” he added.
He also said the militants were hiding was between the Border out Posts (BoPs) of Pakistan Rangers.
“Now, how it is possible that they (militants) can come up to that point without being detected by them (Pakistan Rangers) until and unless their support no one can come up to that point.
