Jammu, October 8 (KIP):-People in Kashmir are divided over the incidents of braid cutting which has assumed alarming dimensions. While section of people hold militants an d subversive elements responsible for these incidents, others accuse the RSS for carrying out braid cutting.
The National Conference has a new tale to tell.. National Conference (NC) HabbaKadal MLA and party's women's provincial president, Shameema Firdous, blamed the right wing Hindu radical organization RSS for the braid chopping incidents stating that it was “unleashing reign of fear.''
Firdous described braid chopping incidents as attacks on Kashmiri women's dignity and termed them unacceptable.
She suggested that the High Court should take a suo-motto cognizance of the events and urged upon Kashmir police to “nab the real culprits at the earliest.
“According to Muslim Shariyat no man can even touch the hair of a Muslim lady as it is a major sin. No Muslim can even touch the hair of a woman as according to Shariya, it is a major sin, so it is clear that the braid choppers are non Muslims,” she said.
Others hold the Army responsible for br aid cu tting because the security forces want to create scare among people.The incidents have taken place in mysterious circumstances and each time the choppers are either shielded or provided a safe passage by the security forces. Their vehicles and patrolling parties have been seen close to the areas where such incidents occurred. Reports coming in so far have pointed a finger of doubt towards the security forces and their sympathizers as they have been close to the incidents at various places,” she said.
However,the coalition Government berate su bversive elements for destabilizing peace in Kashmir.Minister for Education, Syed AltafBukhari, said that the braid chopping incidents were a ploy to vitiate peace in Kashmir. Bukhari said that government may provide security at the girls' schools and colleges in case of exigency.
Bukhari said that the Kashmiri people have faced “things similar to braid chopping throughout the 90s and people will valiantly fight the menace”
The Government has pooh-poohed allegations of holding RSS responsible for braid chopping.Intelligence agencies have no proof that security forces were being trained to give security to braid choppers.(KIP)
