Jammu Tawi: The J&K Unit of All India Lawyers Union, in an emergency called meeting today, expressed great anguish over the murderous attack on Smt Surinder Kour Senior Advocate of J&K High Court by some criminals last evening near her residence at Jammu. Presided over by its president HC Jalmeria Advocate, the AILU strongly condemned the attack on senior advocate and termed the same as attack on her profession as officer of court. This incident also speaks of the vulnerability of the lawyers in conduct of their professional duties. This also speaks of the failure of the J&K Administration in providing secure atmosphere in Jammu and Kashmir.
Expressing solidarity with lawyer colleague and former vice president of AILU, the participating lawyers asked the Police to immediately arrest the culprits. A team of the lawyer members also visited GMC Jammu to know the health condition of the victim lawyer. The AILU also asked the Govt. to provide security cover to Surinder Kour.
Besides HC Jalmeria, Advocates BS Manhas, BL Kalgotra, Roop Lal, KK Pangotra, KM Bhatti, SM Choudhary, MR Qureshi, Amrit Sarin, Anil John, Meharban Singh, BS Jamwal, Teza Singh, BR Sharma, BR Chandan, Bansi Lal Sharma, JP Sharma, Abrar Khan, Kunal Singh Chib, Arvind Singh, and others participated in the meeting.
