In this context, the Centre has imposed 40 per cent duty on onion export to manage demand-supply change intrinsically. Such steps although become necessary to maintain supplies but results at times create problems like the conflict between traders and governments because 40 per cent duty till December 31, 2023, will impact export and also dwindle the profits of farmers, who already have been facing so many problems.
