DC Jammu notifies rates for Sand, Bajri, Gravels within district

    Jammu Tawi, May 26: The District Administration, Jammu today notified the maximum rates for minor mineral (Natural construction material) applicable in Jammu district and also constituted Tehsil level enforcement committees to check the black marketing of such minor minerals like Sand, Bajri, Gravels and Boulders etc, said an order DMJ/LO/2021-22/907-930 dated 24.05.2021 issued by the Deputy Commissioner Jammu. The notification contains the names of the Officers with their telephone/cell phone numbers for the aggrieved consumer of overcharging, who can approach the concerned area Tehsildar who heads the enforcement committee for the purpose and it included the SHO in-charge of the concerned Police station, Officials of Forest, Flood Control and Geology and Mining.

    Multi-Departmental District Level Task Force Cell earlier in its meeting has reviewed and rationalized the sale rates of minor minerals at source to ensure and inclusive of GST that lessees/license holders/sellers do not charge exorbitantly from the public/purchasers and to harmonize prices of construction material with that of neighbouring districts.

    Jammu Kashmir Administration vide its order No. 1569-GAD of 2018 dt. 22.10.2018, had sanctioned the constitution of Multi Departmental District Level Task Force Cell headed by Deputy Commissioner concerned to evaluate price/sale of mineral at the Pit head.

    The Department of Geology and Mining vide Government had already notified and authorised the Deputy Commissioner of each District to fix the maximum prices, from time to time, of finished product per cubic meter for the whole of the district or different, areas and different prices may be fixed for different kinds having regard to specific gravity, size, compressive strength colour and end-use.
