Phone-in Covid queries daily live on Gulistan

    Efforts on to ensure hassle-free admission for Covid patients

    Jammu Tawi, May 08:  Government of Jammu & Kashmir is launching a live ‘phone-in’ programme on Gulistan Channel to address all the health related queries of people of J&K from tomorrow evening at 8.30 pm.

    From Monday, May 10 onwards the programme will be telecast twice daily- from 8:30 am to 9 am and 8:30 pm to 9 pm on Gulistan News.

    The programme will be coordinated by NHM, J&K and will have eminent doctors taking calls of the public on issues related to Covid treatment, home isolation and other non – Covid health related problems.

    Public can call on the Divisional Control Room numbers- 0191-2520982, 2549676, 2674444, 2674115, 2674908 to ask questions and submit suggestions. A similar programme is to be launched on DD Kasheer shortly.

    In another development, Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education, Atal Dulloo, today chaired a meeting to review COVID containment and mitigation measures being taken up by hospitals of both the divisions of Jammu and Kashmir.

    Secretary, Tribal Affairs Department, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, was also present in the meeting.

    Discussion were held on trend of daily cases being recorded, Covid testing capacity, district wise assessment of Covid surge and level of transmission in both the divisions, working of dedicated Covid hospitals, bed occupancy, oxygen inventory besides status of vaccination.

    He informed that Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) is constructing 500 bedded hospitals at Bhagwati Nagar in Jammu and Reshi Pora in Budgam, Kashmir which is expected to be made functional within next 15 days. “This will greatly enhance the existing healthcare edifice in the Union Territory to cater to the people in distress due to prevailing pandemic”, he added.

    FC asked the Chief Mechanical Engineers of both the divisions to ensure speedy completion of oxygen generating plants being raised in Jammu and Kashmir divisions to meet people’s requirement on this account.

    Financial Commissioner emphasized the concern to prioritize admission of Covid patients in their hospitals in a totally comfortable and hassle-free manner. He directed the hospital management to provide oxygen ensuring that no one suffers on this account.

    He informed that efforts are on to increase the number of oxygen support beds in hospitals at Jammu as well as Kashmir in the shortest possible time.
