Weather improves after 3-day wet spell in Valley

Inundation of roads, Colleges irks people; Dy-Mayor SMC says almost all places dewatered; likely to remain dry for next 4 days: Sonum Lotus

Srinagar, Mar 24 (KNO): The three-day wet spell ended across and on Wednesday afternoon even as the local weatherman here has predicted four-day dry spell across the Union Territory, saying that the temperature would again rise from tomorrow.

The reports received by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that several areas as well as Colleges in Srinagar and other parts were inundated due to moderate rainfall over the last two days, thus adding to the miseries of the people especially students.

Some pictures of the prominent Amar Singh College here also went viral on the social media in which the flooded lawns and roads inside College premises were visible.

However, Deputy Mayor of Srinagar Municiapl Corporation (SMC), Parvaiz Ahmad Qadri told KNO that several areas where from complaints were received were dewatered throughout the day.

He added that dewatering process was also going on at Amar Singh College and he and the commissioner SMC visited various places today, where the dewatering process was started.

Meanwhile, although the weather remained cloudy throughout the day, but the conditions improved in the afternoon.

Director Meteorological department (MeT), Sonum Lotus told KNO that they are expecting four-day dry spell from tomorrow till March 28, saying that light rains would occur on March 29 while the whole week would be possibly dry as there is no forecast of any major system—(KNO)
