Violators to be fined with Rs 500
Kulgam, Mar 24 (KNO): Authorities on Wednesday made wearing of face masks at public places compulsory in South Kashmir's Kulgam district to minimize the chances of further spread of Covid-19 and said that violators can be fined with Rs 500.
An order, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), stated that the usage of masks has been made mandatory in view of the recent spike in COVID-19 positive cases across the country.
The order was issued under Section 34 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 by district magistrate Kulgam.
The orders states that all Executive Magistrates, BDOs, District/Sectoral Officers are hereby directed to ensure the usage of masks in their respective jurisdictions and incase of any person found without wearing mask at public places, a fine of Rs.500/- be imposed to violators and the same shall be credited in the official account No.SBG 20199 of Chairman, District Red Cross Society, Kulgam under proper receipt.
“Further all district and sectoral officers shall ensure usage of masks in the offices working under their control.”
It further states that imposition of fine and its deposition in the above-mentioned account be submitted on weekly basis. “The Superintendent of Police, Kulgam, Addl. District Magistrate, Kulgam and Sub Divisional Magistrate, Noorabad shall personally monitor the exercise within their jurisdiction through field inspection on a routine basis,” it reads—(KNO)
