PDP Defers Foundation Day Celebrations Amid Devastation Caused By Rain In J&K

Srinagar, July 25: The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday postponed its foundation day celebrations scheduled for July 28 in view of the widespread devastation caused by incessant rains across Jammu and Kashmir, which have claimed lives and damaged property in several areas.

The decision was taken on the directions of PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, the party said in a statement.

“In view of the prevailing situation caused by incessant rains, which have resulted in the tragic loss of precious lives and widespread damage to property across J&K, the PDP has decided to defer its foundation day celebrations on July 28,” the statement said.

Expressing solidarity with those affected by the recent weather-related disasters, the party said it stands with the people of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly the bereaved families in Rajouri and Poonch who lost their loved ones in cloudburst incidents.

The PDP said the decision reflects its commitment to stand with the affected families during this difficult time rather than hold celebratory events.

The party added that a new date for the foundation day celebrations will be announced at a later stage. (Agencies)
