Mumbai Police notice to MNS for 48-hours ultimatum to Pakistani actors

Date:

Mumbai Police issued a notice against MNS for threatening and giving ultimatum to Pakistani actors.

Mumbai police has issued a notice to Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) for threatening and giving ultimatum to production houses who have hired Pakistani artists. The notice is under section 149 of Indian Penal Code for unlawful assembly.

The section 149 reads as – Every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object. If an offence is committed by any member of an unlawful assembly in prosecution of the common object of that assembly, or such as the members of that assembly knew to be likely to be committed in prosecution of that object, every person who, at the time of the committing of that offence, is a member of the same assembly, is guilty of that offence.

NOTICE ISSUED TO CHITRAPAT SENA

The notice has been issued to the Chitrapat Sena which is an association of film workers headed by Amey Khopkar. The notice says that the police has came to know about MNS planning to threaten Pakistani artists after the Uri terror attack and that they have threatened that if these Pakistani artists do not leave then they will be “taught a lesson in MNS style”.

The notice also reiterates that Mumbai police fears that there could be law and order problem and so MNS should not indulge in such activities.

The notice elaborates that if there is any unlawful assembly or a situation where law and order goes out of hand and disturbs the peace in the city then there would be cognizable offences that would be registered and cases against them would proceed in the court of law.

The notice was issued on Saturday evening by Milind Idekar, the senior police inspector of Mahim police station.

MNS had made the announcement on Friday morning saying that the ‘clock has started to tick.' The ultimatum by the party members ends on Sunday morning.
