IPL 2019: Delhi Capitals defeat Kings Eleven Punjab by five wickets

In , Delhi Capitals defeated Kings Eleven by five wickets at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in the capital last night.

Punjab had posted 163 for 7 after they were put in to bat. West Indian opener Chris Gayle top scored with 69.

In reply, Delhi overhauled the target with just two balls to spare, courtesy superb half-centuries by skipper Shreyas Iyer and Shikhar Dhawan. Shreyas, who made an unbeaten 58, was named man of the match.

Earlier in the day, newly appointed skipper Steve Smith led Rajasthan Royals to a stunning five-wicket win over Mumbai Indians at Jaipur.

Today, Sunrisers Hyderabad will take on Kolkata Knight Riders at 4 pm at Hyderabad, while Royal Challengers Bangalore will host Chennai Super Kings at 8 in the evening.

Chennai is currently leading the eight-team points table with 14 points. Mumbai is second with 12 points, while Delhi also has 12 points but it is third due to a poorer net run rate.

Punjab is fourth with 10 points. Hyderabad and Kolkata, both have eight points each and they are fifth and sixth. Rajasthan is seventh with six points, with Bangalore at the bottom with four points
