JAMMU Tawi, May 12: The LPG crisis has severely hit J&K and there is an acute shortage of domestic LPG in the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) as the various gas agencies supplying LPG to the consumers have not received LPG supply since the last five days thus putting the consumers to a lot of inconvenience.
Various gas agencies of the UT of J&K like Indane, HP, Bharat Gas etc have not been supplied domestic LPG cylinders since the last five days for distributing to the consumers who have booked the LPG Cylinders for the past over a week, sources said.
“We have not received the domestic LPG Cylinders supply since last Friday,” Manager of Kameshwar Gas Agency, Rajkumar informed, when approached by the Northlines.
As of now, one consumer can book his LPG cylinder online after 25 days once he gets his first delivery. After booking online, the delivery of next LPG cylinder, as per norms, must be made within seven days.
However, during our visit to 2 gas agencies of Jammu City, it was found that the consumers, who had booked their LPG Cylinders even long back were not supplied LPG cylinders even after 40 days.
One LPG delivery boy, Harbans Lal said that there is hue and cry over LPG cylinders in Jammu as no LPG supply has been received by the gas agencies since the last five days.
“I supply LPG cylinders to over 12,00 people in Jammu City in my allotted area and most of the people have said that their LPG cylinder lasts around 24-27 days,” Harbans said, while adding, “If people get LPG cylinder after more than 40 days the situation of shortage could be well assessed”.
Sources said that the LPG supply to the various gas agencies comes from Bari Brahamana but despite repeated requests from the various gas/LPG supplying agencies, the supply has not been restored in the last five days.
They also said the situation may worsen in the days to come and the capping of 25 days for booking LPG may go up.
