As against required 12500 MW, the supply came down to 35 MWs

Jammu Tawi, Jan 23: The heavy rainfall and snowfall continuing since last night has caused extensive damage to the power infrastructure across the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir, especially the Jammu region.
Many poles, towers, and power supply lines have been damaged in the gusty winds, heavy rainfall and snowfall all across J&K, a senior PDD officer said, while adding, that the restoration work has been going on and the power will be restored by tomorrow evening.
He said that the worst affected areas in Jammu are from Bishnah and RS Pura.
The power supply in most of the areas of Jammu region went off last night due to heavy rainfall and snowfall and was restored in some areas late evening today but still some areas are still in dark.
In most of the Jammu areas, the power has been playing hide and seek. “The power supply system/load crashed due to heavy rainfall and snowfall all across the Jammu region, Chief Engineer, Arshad Hussain Reshi, informed the Northlones, while adding, “the power supply in 85% areas of the Jammu region has been restored”.
He said, “on a daily basis we require between 1200-12500 MW of power on a daily basis in Jammu region, but due to heavy rainfall and snowfall the supply came down to 35 MW”.
The Chief Engineer said that 1050 MW of power has been restored which means 85% of power has been restored in Jammu, while it will be restored in the remaining areas tomorrow.
The remaining 350 MW of power will most likely be restored tomorrow, the Chief Engineer said. Meanwhile, sources said that poles, distribution transformers, towers and the power lines have been extensively damaged all across J&K.
